Is America Still Beautiful? (Part 2)

Prov. 14:34 – “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”  Reproach means a shame, a disgrace.  2 Peter 3:9 states: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”  We’re committing adultery and calling it an affair (Exodus 20:14 – “You shall not commit adultery.”)  We’re killing babies through the process known as abortion and calling it family planning (Jer. 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”, Psalm 139:13-16).  We’re handing out condoms to our teenagers and telling them to have safe sex (Ex. 20:14).  We’re committing spiritual adultery as Christians, whoring after the evangelical gods of big budgets and big buildings and disguising it with evangelical jargon (James 4:4 – “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”)  We’re giving our stamp of approval to homosexuality and calling it an alternative lifestyle (Lev. 18:22 – “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”; Rev. 21:27; Rom. 1:26-27 – “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”; I Cor. 6:9).  We’re allowing women to fight in war, to preach the gospel, and to be deacons and calling it equal rights (I Tim. 3:2 – “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach”).  We’re killing the elderly and the terminally ill and calling it death with dignity (Ex. 20:13 - “You shall not murder.”)  We’re electing public officials who are amoral and then we state: “It’s always been this way.”  We’re throwing God out of every area of public life in the nation which He predestined to be a shining light to all nations and calling it separation of church and state (Matt. 5:13-16 - “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”) Preachers are compromising the integrity of the pulpit and watering down the gospel to do, as they say: “Make the gospel more palatable and culturally relevant.”  Christian lite as the late Peter Jennings calls it (2 Tim. 4:1-5 – “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:  Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”)  We’re looking for a fast buck and a cheap thrill with the purchase of a lottery ticket and calling it gaming instead of gambling (Jer. 17:11 - “As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, so is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, and at his end he will be a fool.”; I Tim. 6:9, 17-19; Matt. 6:19-20).  We are a disobedient people in these United States of America.  We are a compromising people. Is America Still Beautiful? She is when she repents!
