Is America Still Beautiful? (Part 1)
Text: Proverbs 14:34
America The Beautiful
By Katherine L. Bates
O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
NIV & NASB states: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” Over 30 years ago, I was traveling to Charlotte, NC. My passenger and I were entrenched in a deep conversation. We weren’t really watching the road signs. Before we knew it, we were way off course and lost. We were late for our appointment, but not too late. Two hundred and fifty years ago, the USA began a journey and called itself “One Nation Under God.” We have become so entrenched in achieving the American dream of health, wealth, and time to enjoy them, that we have drifted off course. We haven’t heeded the road signs, the Ten Commandments, and we have lost our way. The USA, a nation predestined by Almighty God to be a light to all nations, has fallen off a moral precipice into an immoral abyss. We are a disobedient people in these United States. We are a compromising people. Is America Still Beautiful? She is when she repents!
