Changed Lives! This is the heartbeat of Almighty God! To see a lost sinner saved by His Amazing Marvelous Grace! From Genesis to Revelation the living God is pleading with spiritually lost humanity to repent of their sins and give their heart to Him! After Zacchaeus, the despicable tax collector, gave his heart to Jesus. Jesus said: “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10 NKJV).
I recently had lunch with Pastor Bob Provence of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Knoxville. I have known Pastor Bob since 1998. He was our daughter, Katy’s, youth pastor. One of the young men who rededicated his life at the Tusculum University Football Team Chapel Service and was then baptized in the Nolichucky River is a member of his church! Pastor Bob told me that this young college football player is on fire for his Lord! You can go to my Facebook page and view the baptismal service!
As I came through the check-out line at the grocery store a dear lady who is a part of a very prominent political family stopped me! She said: “Jeff, I watch you on TV every Sunday morning!” She and her husband attend a very liberal church, but they are watching a passionate soul winner plead with spiritually lost people to give their heart to Jesus! This is how our great God works (Isaiah 55:11)!
On the very same day, I saw a Spirit-filled lady from a church in West Greene County. She told me that she had just mailed a card of encouragement to me concerning a man whom she has known all her life. He was in the Jefferson County Jail one day when I was there over a year ago. Little did he know that I was scheduled to be in a certain church in a few days that his family has attended for many years. He came forward when I gave the public invitation in his home church! With tears streaming down his face, he said: “Brother Jeff, I thought that I had given my heart to the Lord when I was a boy, but I have come to realize that I have never truly been saved!” I prayed with him as he asked the Lord Jesus to come into his heart! This lady told me that this dear man has now become an integral part of their church! He never misses a service! She said: “He is truly a changed man!” Talk about the Sovereignty of Almighty God! This is it! “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom. 8:14 NKJV).
One bitter cold snowy day, Kim and I were walking at the College Square Mall in Morristown, and a young man called my name! I went to him and he told me that he had met me at the Jefferson County Jail! He is out of jail, doing well, and working! Then, we walked through a business, and another young man called my name! He is from Concord Baptist Church in Mohawk, TN and he has attended all four Locust Springs Youth Events where I have proclaimed the gospel. He told us that he will be attending this year’s event! He is now in college majoring in Mechanical Engineering! Our Lord used these two young men to encourage us (Gal. 6:9-10)! When you are a soul winner, you run into yourself on the streets (Daniel 12:3)!
A dear lady in Knoxville contacted me about the How to Be Born Again flyers! I gave her a sample of each flyer that our Lord has given to us through the years! She wants to distribute them to her church!
The overwhelming power of God continues to move mightily at the Jefferson County Jail! In fact, so many powerful moments are happening that I can only give you the highlights! My Lord has shown me that powerful prayer is the key to breaking the strongholds in the lives of these dear men! They enter the room that they call the church room. I have one man to open in prayer, and we sing a great hymn of the faith. Oh, how I wish that you could hear them sing and pray, many for the first time in their lives! Then, I ask them to offer their personal prayer requests. It is at this moment that the Holy Spirit really sits down in the place! My Lord gave me a saying in 1996: “No prayer. No power. Much prayer. Much Power” (Jeremiah 33:3)! The man who asks for prayer is placed in the middle of the circle of men and we lay our hands on his shoulders and pray for him! The tears begin to flow freely! I hear comments: “I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit!” “The last time that I was here I requested prayer for my family. I missed my wife and I wanted to see her. In less than 24 hours, I heard from her! I know that God answers prayer!” An older man who appeared to be very disinterested in one of the services came to me as he was leaving and hugged me and thanked me!
One of the men recently spoke with tears streaming down his face during the prayer time: “We need to pray for brother Jeff! Brother, we appreciate, love, and respect you! We look forward to your coming here. As soon as we walk through the door, we can see the Holy Spirit all over you! You always encourage us! You never beat us down. When we leave, we are greatly strengthened to face all that we must face in here!” His great love made me cry! Your faithful powerful prayers are making a great difference in this very dark place! The men have even commented to key leaders in the jail how their time with me is impacting them!
We had our first planning meeting for the 5th Annual Youth Revival at Locust Springs Christian Retreat Center in Greeneville, TN which is sponsored by Concord Baptist Church in Mohawk, TN. I appreciate the passion and vision of Pastor Larry Jones and sister Karen Douthat! One young lady who surrendered to be a missionary two years ago is preparing to go to the mission field at the end of this summer, Lord willing. Two young men who surrendered to preach in the second and third year of the event preached in the event last year and will also be preaching this year! Now, that is real spiritual fruit (John 15)! The dates for the event this year are June 23-27. Sister Karen said that her Lord made it clear to her that we are to host a fourth night this year! Please pray for the Lord to bring every young person who He wants to be at the event (Matt. 18:1-6)!
On Sunday, February 22, I will be proclaiming the gospel at Piney Flats Baptist Church in Piney Flats, TN where Kevin Roberts is the pastor. Evangelists from across the state of TN will be there for simultaneous One Day Revivals in the churches in the Tri Cities. Evangelist Toonie Cash is responsible for this powerful event! Please pray for the power of God to fall on the scene!
Only our great God knows just how much time is left before His Son, Jesus, returns (Matt. 24:36)! I want Him to find me leading lost people to faith in His Son, Jesus, in the darkest place on the face of this earth! For years I prayed for the power of the Holy Spirit to go before me, with me, and after me! And that He does! With every fiber of my being, thank you for standing with this passionate soul winner! I appreciate and love you!
