The first verse that my mom and dad taught my little brother, Joey, was Luke 19:10. Joey stood before our church on Sunday night in Discipleship Training and quoted the verse without missing a beat! Jesus states right after He had saved Zacchaeus, a despicable tax collector. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Every day when I get out of bed, I know that my mission is to be a powerful tool in the hand of my Lord to point spiritually lost people to the only ONE who can truly change their life! “Oh, Lord Jesus, give me creative ways to reach spiritually lost people for You! The world is my pulpit!”
How I praise my Lord for the way that He has and continues to use loving Spirit-filled ladies to encourage and challenge me! On Monday, Feb. 9, Janice Scruggs called me to tell me that she had just led a young single mother to faith in the Lord Jesus using the How to Be Born Again flyer! The young mother had her three children with her in a thrift store as Janice showed her the great love of the Lord Jesus! Janice bought her a brand-new Bible as well as everything that she purchased! Now, that is a Spirit-filled soul winner who “feeds the soul and the body!” Jesus did it that way, too! I have known sister Janice for twenty-one years (Matt. 14:13-21)!
On Sunday, Feb. 22, I was honored to proclaim the gospel at Piney Flats First Baptist Church in Piney Flats, TN where Kevin Roberts is the pastor. My Lord had me to use the message: Life After Death: A Tale of Two Cities. The text is Revelation 20:11-15. I give a vivid description of Heaven and Hell and who goes to each place. They host a drive-in service! This is the first time that I have ever been privileged to proclaim the gospel in a drive-in service! People simply drive-in the church parking lot and turn their radio to a certain station and they can sing, pray, and hear a Bible based message! You just ask them to honk their horn when they need to say “AMEN!” People who make decisions simply drive to the front of the church and give their decision card to a greeter! One dear lady recommitted her life to her Lord! During the main service, people came to pray for their spiritually lost family members and friends! The choir, ably led by Brian Wilson, was one of the greatest that Kim and I have ever heard! Pastor Brian is a gifted trumpeter! He can make the “hair on your neck stand straight up!”
The old preacher said: “You best be careful what you ask the Lord for, He just might give it to you” (Jer. 33:3)! The awesome power of the living God continues to move deeply in the hearts of the men at the Jefferson County Jail! Your powerful prayers are being heard and answered by our great God! In fact, I have so many great things to tell that I must condense them! A young man came into the church room with a very spiritually hungry look on his face! He immediately began to “work out of my back pocket!” I had him to lead us in Amazing Grace and the men responded to him! He said: “Brother Jeff, one of these young men has something to say!” This young man suddenly jumped up and said: “I have been requesting prayer for my family, and these prayers are being answered!” He gave specific details in joyous tears! The power of God literally sat down in that room and men began to cry as they requested prayer for their families! We lay our hands on the men as they request prayer, and you can just see and feel the power of the Holy Spirit moving freely! This happens each week! Praise the Lord! They are learning about the Power of Prayer and the Prayer of Power! Their Lord loves them! They desperately and passionately want to be with their families!
In another service, a young man began to cry tears of brokenness and regret as he told of how he had attempted suicide because he was so miserable in his drug addiction. He knew that God had spared his life! The men began to call on the Lord for him, and you could see his tears hitting the floor! I asked him about his salvation, and he said that he has been Born Again, but needed recommitment! I led this dear man in prayer as he rededicated his life to his Lord with the other men watching! You could literally see the peace of the Lord sweep over him! It was like a million pounds had been removed from his heart and body! The immediate change in his countenance was phenomenal! He was so happy that he stayed and talked to me after everyone left!
As I was headed to the church room one day, a man who was mopping the floors stopped me and began to talk to me! He said: “When I leave here, I want to be a man who has character rather than being a character.” He had heard me preach this in a message about Stephen several years ago! He brought me to tears! The Word of God always accomplishes its purpose (Isaiah 55:11)!
A dear man in another service said: “Brother Jeff, my life has completely changed since I was in here one month ago! We prayed that I would hear from my family and I have!” His personal public testimony set the tone for the entire service! Four men were Born Again this past month while eighteen men rededicated their lives to their Lord!
I recently walked through the check-out line in a store and a young man who was working there stopped me. He stated: “I watch you every Sunday on TV!” I jokingly told him that he should not be calling me a preacher! HA! He was very complimentary! On another day, Kim and I had just finished lunch. As we were getting out of the booth a lady stopped us! She said: “Excuse me. Do I see you on television?” Again, I said: “You must be confused! How dare you call me a preacher!” HA! She and her husband were very gracious, kind, and complimentary! On the very same night, a man in Knoxville stopped me! He said: “Jeff, I read your Facebook posts every day!” What are the odds of us seeing people in public who have been touched by the Lord through this work of evangelism? Only the living God could do this because He wants to encourage us that we are making a difference in this world for Him! Praise His Holy Name! It is all His (Gal. 2:20)!
With every fiber of my being, thank you for your prayers and financial support! I am one blessed passionate soul winner to have you in my life! The Lord Jesus could return any day now! I pray that He will find me leading spiritually lost people to Him! I love you!
