God Still Loves the World and He Always Will (Part 2)

(2) That He gave His only begotten Son. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Only begotten means “only borne one.” Jesus is the only child born to God.  John 1:14 states: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."  Jesus was the God-man.  He was as much God as He was a man. He was 100% God and 100% man.  God became the human Jesus in order to be able to suffer and die. The death of Jesus on the cross is payment for your sins, my sins, and the sins of the world. God's only Son, Jesus, died for you.  His suffering was vicarious.  The word vicarious means to take the place of another. Jesus took your place on that old, rugged Cross. No one else could do it.  His blood, like His life, was pure and sinless. As He hung on that Cross, He looked out across that mass of people and He said: “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do” Luke 23:34 (NKJV). He was buried in a borrowed tomb for three days. After He was in that tomb for those three days, He arose victoriously! He predicted His own resurrection while He walked on this earth. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up” John 2:19 (NKJV). He was a man of His word! He meant what He said, and He said what He meant! Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God of Heaven and earth is alive today! He is seated at the right hand of His Father in Heaven, and He is coming back for His children very soon! Are you one of His children? Do you know that you have truly been born again?
