Don’t Do It! Don’t Reject Jesus! (Part 1)
Text: Luke 16:19-31
This is the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus. The Rich Man died and went to the place called Hell. Lazarus died and went to the place called Heaven. The Rich Man did not die and go to hell because he was rich. He died and went to hell because he rejected Jesus! Jesus has never rejected anyone, and He never will (Romans 10:13). He makes no exceptions. He plays no favorites, for He is no respecter of persons. (Rom.2:11) He treats everyone the same. Each person will stand before Him to give an accounting of their life. Christians will stand before Jesus at the Judgement Seat of Christ. 2 Cor. 5:10 NKJV – “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” Non-Christians will stand before Jesus at the Great White Throne Judgement. Rev. 20:11-15 NKJV – “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” The Lord Jesus will show every non-Christian, meaning every spiritually lost person, that a place was reserved for their name to be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. They chose for their name to not be written there. The Holy Spirit convicts every spiritually lost person. The word convict means He shows you where you’re wrong. He points out the sins in your life that are separating you from a right relationship with the Lord Jesus. You can respond with a resounding YES to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, or you can respond with a resounding NO to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Almighty God has given every human being free will. You have the freedom to choose Jesus. You have the freedom to reject Jesus. What choice have you made? What choice will you make today? The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV) – “For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
